Have a private well? Bring in a water sample to be tested for nitrate and chloride.
We are again collaborating with Minnesota Well Owners’ Association and Minnesota Groundwater Association and East Metro Water Resource Education Program to hold FREE well water screening clinics for private well owners. To participate, bring drinking water from your home in a clean, hard plastic or glass container (minimum of one cup (8oz) of water). Include the location and date that you collected the sample. You can wait for your results or request them via email.
At these clinics, we will be testing for nitrate and chloride. There will also be clinic volunteers on hand from the counties, as well as the MN Groundwater Association and MN Well Owners Association to talk to people about their wells, maintenance, and concerns. All participants will receive a take-home packet with info about abandoned wells, arsenic, bacteria, nitrate, pesticides, PFAS, and managing your well to reduce risk of contamination.
