District Seeks New Riparian Permit Specialist

The Carnelian Marine St. Croix Watershed District is seeking applicants interested in serving as the District Riparian Permit Specialist.

This position was created in response to issues and goals developed from input for the watershed 10-year management plan.   During the development of the plan residents of the District overwhelmingly requested the watershed improve compliance with district rules to protect the quality of the 31 lakes, 21 streams, and 18 miles of St. Croix River.

Based on this input, the District convened a Shoreland Compliance and Enforcement Advisory Team made up of state, county, and local water resource technicians and enforcement professionals to evaluate current CMSCWD approaches and identify opportunities for improvements.  The team identified a host of improvements, including, but not limited to, improved communication and engagement, enhanced guidance, and consistent and timely enforcement processes.

These strategies and numerous actions were integrated into the CMSCWD 10-year Management Plan. The Riparian Permit Specialist will lead these actions and provide overall support to the CMSCWD programs.  Interested individuals are encouraged to submit a cover letter, resume, and three references via email to Administrator Mike Isensee at mike.isensee@cmscwd.org by 4:00 PM on December 17, 2021.
